Copwatch activist found not guilty of felony charges of battery on a law enforcement officer
A jury acquitted John Kurtz, of Orlando Copwatch, on a felony charge of battery on a law-enforcement officer. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail for resisting an officer without violence, a misdemeanor.
“It’s kind of bittersweet,” said Kurtz’s attorney, Mark Longwell, of the result. Longwell said he is pleased by the aquittal, but thought the misdemeanor sentence was unnecessarily heavy handed.
